Lily

Lewis

Lily Lewis (b.1986) is self-taught multidisciplinary artist. The artist draws inspiration from sources of study of the human condition as told through stories; the individual’s experience and interaction in the world, the constant urge join the flow of history by aligning with myth and creating new ones. Communicated through a painting, a poem, large scale sculptures, tapestry, or performance.

Each of her past exhibitions have focused on an idea or aspect of modern life, and how it folds back into classical retellings of humanness. Whether that be through the moral and social lessons hidden in fairytales juxtaposed with the constant stream of consciousness building we get from technologies, or a 5 part continuing show of the Platonic solids and their corresponding elements alongside body parts relating to the human senses.

She builds an artistic realm, with a rich language of symbolism, that across her work produces a strangely harmonious and provocative narrative. Committed to exploring the interplay between the classical and the contemporary, to reflecting on the artist’s role and the power of art and story to transcend time. Resonating with the current pulse of societal evolution whilst leaving an indelible mark on the canvas of our timeless collective consciousness.
